Cocoa Runners Chocolate Tasting Evening: Spotlight On African Cocoa
June 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm£25
Join us for this Cocoa Runners Tasting Evening at Prufrock Coffee in Farringdon. It’s true that the African continent is the source of much of the world’s mass produced cocoa. However, Africa also home to some exceptional beans that are all too often overshadowed by bulk cacao production. Tonight we’ll shine a light on some cacao origins you may not have tried before, and take a look at the continent’s rich heritage in cacao production. We’ll taste bars made from fruity Madagascan cacao, as well as bars made from one of Africa’s most exciting emerging origins – Tanzania.
Recently we’ve seen a number of great bars using beans from Tanzania. In the last year alone, over a dozen makers have released new bars made with beans from the African nation, more often than not they’ve sourced their beans from Kokoa Kamili.
Based in the Kilombero Valley of Tanzania, Kokoa Kamili are dedicated to helping local farmers and craft chocolate makers worldwide get the best from Tanzanian beans. It buys wet beans directly from farmers and then dries and ferments them at its own specially built facility in the valley. Once fermented it supplies these to makers who will coax the full flavour from the beans and transform them into chocolate that showcases the quality of Tanzanian cacao.
The tasting will start promptly at 7pm.
