Zotter – 70% Milk Chocolate Dark Style – NO sugar
This curious little number from Zotter contains no sugar at all. Imagine a 70% dark chocolate with all the sugar replaced with milk powder. What you end up with is a chocolate that has all the intensity of a dark chocolate and the creaminess of a milk chocolate, but none of the sweetness of either.
With no sweeteners at all, this is a chocolate that may not be to everyone’s taste, but for the intrepid and curious, it’s a must try!
La Reine Astrid – Cameroun 44% Milk (malitol) (Please note – this bar has been temporarily replaced by Lucocoa – Dominican Republic 70% Dark)
This 44% milk chocolate bar contains no added refined “normal” sugar. It is instead sweetened by the starch-derived sugar substitute maltitol, which is about 90% as sweet as cane sugar. The result is a pleasingly rich milk bar not overpowered by the sweetness of the milk and sugar.
Zotter – STC 50% Milk Chocolate (Peru, Pangoa) with date sugar
An intensely milky bar – from Zotter’s “Squaring the Circle” range – with notes of cream, peanut butter and waffles. It’s been sweetened with date sugar, a natural sugar alternative which adds strong notes of caramel to the overall profile.
