This Ara Usulutan uses cacao from El Salvador.
Though originally from Venezuela, Ara founders Sabrina and Andres, have now settled in Paris. They hope to educated the French about craft chocolate and the aromas of different Central and Latin American cacaos. Thus they chose the name ‘Ara’ for the company. Ara is the French for Macaw, a bird native to many of the lush rainforests where cacao grows.
Andres of Ara has crafted this bar using cacao beans from the province of Usulutan in the south east of the county. Very few makers have access to cacao from this small country. Cacao has been grown in Jiquilisco Bay, on El Salvador’s Pacific Coast for over 100 years.
A smooth dark chocolate that is creamy and rich with an unusual flavour profile.
