There’s an earthy richness to this fantastic Ecuadorian bar. A fudgy body develops in the melt to reveal hints of raisin and mocha.


Chocolate maker Shawn Askinosie spent 20 years as a criminal defence lawyer before switching his attention to chocolate in 2005. He travelled across four continents to build relationships with farmers and figure out how they could work together to create the perfect chocolate. Now, he and his team place great emphasis on social responsibility: putting fairness, justice, sustainability, and education at the heart of everything they do.


The beans in this bar were sourced from Monica Guaman – pictured on the bar – who leads her own small family farm and a cooperative of other small cocoa farmers in her village of Zamora, Ecuador. Shawn works closely with Monica and visits her regularly to work with her farmers, inspect their beans, and share with them Askinosie’s profits.
