A very special collection of dark chocolate bars.
Inside this gift box are four bars of dark chocolate all chosen by BBC Good Food Magazine in its blind taste test of the best dark chocolate bars.
While the percentage of the bars might be similar, as BBC Good Food Magazine discovered, the flavours of these four chocolates couldn’t be more different.
First, crafted in Australia is a a bar as smooth and silky as its name suggests. The mild dark chocolate mixes malt and caramel to create a delicate yet complex flavour profile.
Next Chocolat Madagascar’s Organic Dark 70% bar brings together all the flavours of Madagascan beans. The smooth chocolate is bursting with red fruits, leading to a lightly roasted finish. Chocolat Madagascar is one of only two chocolate factories on the island. Making its chocolate at source means they can give back more to the local economy and work even more closely with farmers to source the best beans.
From Orford’s Pump Street Bakery we have the Crayfish Estate dark chocolate bar. This is a multi-ward winning bar, having won accolades at both the Academy of Chocolate Awards and the International Chocolate Awards.
Finally is a dark chocolate from one of the world’s most prestigious craft chocolate makers: Mikkel Friis-Holm. The bar’s name ‘Double Turned’ refers to the very particular way the beans have been processed: the Nicaraguan cacao was turned twice during fermentation, thus highlighting certain notes in the beans.
