Askinosie – Mababu Tanzania, Avocado & Rosemary Dark Chocolate
This rich 61% dark chocolate is made from Trinitario cacao sourced directly from Mababu farm in Tanzania. The bar is flavoured with avocado pulp and organic rosemary and a touch a black pepper. Complemented by the notes of the cacao: spice, caramel and woody herbs.
French Broad – Anamalai, India 71% Dark
A single-origin bar from a top-shelf Indian cacao. The Anamalai Farm, where this cacao is grown, is a cocoa, coconut, and nutmeg farm located near the town of Pollachi; a spot with endless fields of tea and abundant spices grown in biodiverse forests.
Fresco 214 Madagascar 74%
Rob has put his scientific credentials to great effect here to produce a great bar made with Bertil Akesson’s Madagascan beans. Rob has combined a medium conch and light roast allowing the natural fruitiness of the beans to burst through. There is an immediate hit of apricot, followed by a sharper citrus tang.
Fruition Brown Butter Milk 43%
Hand crafted using Dominican beans this 43% cocoa bar is incredibly creamy and milky. The brown butter gives it an intensely sweet caramel taste that is rounded off with just a hint of citrus. Perfect for those who love a sweet chocolate, a bit like a caramel fudge but with just that hint of fruit.
Lumineux – Indonesia Dark 70%
Perfect for those who like to savour their chocolate slowly. This complex 70% dark bar features notes of tamarind and coffee, which pair perfectly with a deep cocoa flavour.
Ritual – Camino Verde, Ecuador 75%
The chunky bar has a clean snap. As you break off a piece, inhale the floral aroma layered with jasmine, orange blossom and an earthy undercurrent. The smooth bar starts out chocolatey and a little chocolatey and sweetens to into a honeyed green note. Sugar snap peas and sweet vegetables mix with creamy, almost nutty flavour. The slightly drying finish has just a hint of astringency.
Taza Chocolate – Mexicano Chipotle Chili
This is a chocolate that may be unlike anything you’ve ever tried before. Taza has added chipotle chili to its 50% dark chocolate disks, creating an intense and spicy chocolate with a kick. The earthy and smoky flavours of the chipotle act as the perfect counterbalance to the slightly tart and bittersweet chocolate. Accompanied by Taza’s signature biscuity texture, these disks are about as close to multisensory as it gets with chocolate. This is one you won’t forget.
