ABOUT THE MAKER
Firetree’s founders, David Zulman and Martyn O’Dare, possess a wealth of chocolate expertise and passion. David ran a large confectionery business in his native South Africa before coming to the UK, and Martyn spent many years setting up factories all over the world for both Cargill and Cocoa Barry. Back in 2017, they joined forces to create a unique small-batch, single-estate craft chocolate company in the UK. The inspiration for their name comes from the cocoa tree’s yellow, orange, and red pods, which from a distance make the tree look like it’s on fire.
The beans for this bar were sourced from the Seram Islands, Indonesia. A region characterised by thick forests and nicknamed “spice islands” for the array of spices they produce. This remote cocoa-producing region produces beans with notes of spice, coffee, dried fruits and a rich nuttiness.
