Description
ABOUT THE BAR
This dark chocolate contains a robust 80% cacao with an earthy aroma. The flavour profile begins sweetly and transforms into tart raspberry. No chocolate connects French Broad more deeply with their roots than this bar – Dan & Jael lived in the cacao-rich jungles of Costa Rica for two years, where they opened a small café, called Bread & Chocolate.
ABOUT THE MAKER
When Jael and Dan, the chocolate makers, bought an abandoned cacao farm in Costa Rica, it was to serve as their homestead. When they hired Daniel South at their cafe, Bread & Chocolate, he was to be a dishwasher. Oh, how plans have changed…for the better! Daniel, now Bread & Chocolate’s head baker, has returned to his agricultural roots as a cacao processor, cultivating cacao on his farm, rehabilitating their farm, and buying cacao from his neighbors along the coast. He ferments in wooden boxes made from trees felled on his land, and exports directly to French Broad Chocolates.
ABOUT THE BEANS
This bar is a blend of beans from Costa Rica. The beans are fermented in wooden boxes made from trees felled on Daniel’s land, and are exported directly to French Broad Chocolates.
