On 21st June 2022, the International Chocolate Awards announced this year’s winners of the European, Middle Eastern and African Bean-to-Bar Competition. Among the winners were some incredible inclusion bars which are definitely worth a try!
We’ve put together a selection of the winners to make it easier to sample some of the wonderful and wacky award-winning flavour combinations. In this box:
Standout – “Nordic Nature” Porcini 67% Dark
This dark bar is deliciously creamy, the Porcini mushroom blends well with the Öko Caribe cacao producing rich hazelnut and balanced umami notes.
Friis Holm – O’Payo, Nicaragua 50% Milk with Liquorice
On the palate, expect a rich creamy chocolate with notes of honey against the herbal and distinctly liquorice flavours. The liquorice has some bite, so do expect a chew against this fudgy Friis Holm milk chocolate.
Puchero, Paquibato, Philipines, with Nibs 75%
This delightful bar begins with vibrant, green flavour notes, which then balance out into a tropical profile. The after taste presents a slight hint of gently roasted nuts. If you are looking for a bar with a complex flavour, intensity, and length: this is it.
Pump Street – Croissant Dark Milk 62%
This indulgent bar encapsulates Pump Street Bakery’s handmade croissants. An indulgently buttery bar packed with crisp flakes of croissant. With notes of sweet caramel, butter, hazelnuts and cream.
