Description
This event has now passed, but you can access a recording of the tasting on YouTube at this link, or on this page below.
This specially curated box contains bars made from West African cocoa beans which we will use to illustrate some little-known facts about chocolate from this part of the world. Kristy has a wealth of knowledge to share with us on this topic.
Our first tasting focused on “myth-busting”, specifically exploring many of the myths, misapprehension and confusion that surrounds Child Labour, Fair Trade and the supposedly limited flavour of cocoa from West Africa. We used five different bars to illustrate the challenges and opportunities of Cocoa and Chocolate in West Africa. The second tasting guided you through the history of cocoa in Africa. Then for the third we addressed the issues you’d like to hear more about on top of the stuff we already have prepared from spirituality / religion and the environmental impacts of cocoa.
Please note: We will be donating 10% of all sales to a Kristy’s charity, “EyeGlasses for Cocoa Growers” in Ghana (see here).
