Made in Lima, Peru this bar combines two of Peru’s most notable (and nutritious) exports. Cocoa beans from near Tingo Maria National Park in Central Peru are given a delicious and high protein boost by Peruvian quinoa.
The bar has an unusual texture – a little grainy but still creamy. Cutting through the rich, dark chocolate are whole pieces of quinoa, giving the bar a satisfying crunch. The addition of this Andean super food gives a toasted, malted dimension to the earthy chocolate. Surprisingly for a Peruvian chocolate, the bar has very little fruit or green notes, the deep earthy notes giving way to a lingering finish with a touch of menthol and warm pepper.
