Making chocolate since 2009 produced from cocoa beans harvested from their farm on the mountain slopes of the Dominican Republic, Spagnvola certainly known how to make the most of the tastes that can be brought out in chocolate. With the ripened pods being hand-picked all the way through to the chocolates being hand-crafted in small batches – this maker really knows how to produce premium chocolate, and we think you will enjoy it as much as we do.
Dark and smooth with just a hint of roasted fruit. A little astringency on the finish.

This is a super smooth bar, very dark but without too much bitterness. As the tasting notes say, there is some astringency and tannin at the end. There are some tobacco and roasted notes in there. I tend to prefer a fruitier chocolate, and didn't find anything exceptional about the flavour here. But a well made bar.

The chocolate equivalent of a cask strength single malt. Possibly. Or a virtuoso tuba solo? Very intense, with lots of bass notes & less of the fruity tenor or citrus soprano of some bars. One piece delivers about as much sheer 'dark chocolateyness' as an entire bar of most mass market dark chocolate.
