A moment of mindfulness and spirituality with ceremonial cacao

A close up of a cup of drinking chocolate held in two hands, with some chocolate and a cocoa pod next to them.

Forever Cacao founder Pablo Spaull will join Cocoa Runners Co-Founder and chocolate expert Spencer Hyman to guide us through a cacao ceremony. Learn how to prepare your own ceremonial cacao, understand how it’s different from other chocolate, and join us for a mindful, meditative journey.

As well as being Europe’s longest supplier of the finest Ceremonial Grade Criollo Cacao, Pablo has been part of dozens of cacao ceremonies and is a real expert on their benefits. He comments that “drinking Cacao in its purest form allows a deeper connection to ourselves, our own intuition, knowing and inner guidance.”

We will guide you through how to prepare ceremonial cacao, discuss the history of this sacred drink, share a meditative experience with simple mindfulness and breathing techniques, and discuss what we can learn from cacao ceremonies.

The tasting will run from 15:00-16:00 on Sunday 13th October 2024 at the Fidelio Cafe, Farringdon. This event is open to all, whether you’re a regular at cacao ceremonies or you’re just interested in finding out what they are all about.

About Pablo Spaull and Forever Cacao

After being introduced to “raw” cacao at a friend’s birthday party, Pablo Spaull became fascinated with the differences in texture and flavour of a craft chocolate bar. Ceremonial Grade Cacao is made from cacao from a Criollo variety heirloom bean. The beans are sourced directly from a single origin or a country, where it is then harvested by indigenous communities.

Here’s what Pablo had to say about the importance of cacao:

“The joy of Cacao has recently been rediscovered in the western World, with people consuming it in a pure form and receiving support and messages from the Cacao spirit. Cacao is regaining its reputation as a powerful yet gentle earth medicine.”

The Cocoa Runners Craft Chocolate Fair

A busy room with two floors, with lots of chocolate makers and people speaking to them at stallsOn 12th and 13th October, Cocoa Runners are hosting their annual Craft Chocolate Fair to kick off Chocolate Week 2024. Meet craft chocolate makers from across the UK and beyond at the indoor market, and join a series of talks, tastings and experiences in our beautiful tasting room. Pump Street Chocolate will also be serving drinking chocolate and bringing treats from the famous Pump Street Bakery.
