How we select the pairings.

Both Square Mile and Cocoa Runners and lucky to have expert teams in coffee and chocolate tasting – and it’s not hard to find volunteers from both offices to contribute to these pairing selections! We taste Square Mile’s coffee of the month, brewed as a black filter coffee, alongside a range of bars we think might complement the flavours in the coffee. Pairing is not a simple science, and often we are surprised by which work well together.

When tasting the pairings, our experts are looking for the flavours to complement each other – but also for each to bring something out in the other. Some chocolate bars, for example, may have a totally different flavour profile when enjoyed with a particular coffee.
