Join us to discover some of our favourite new coffee and chocolate pairings.
Cocoa Runners and Square Mile Coffee Roasters are launching a new monthly coffee and chocolate subscription. Join Spencer Hyman, craft chocolate expert, and the team over at Square Mile as they explain how to pair coffee and chocolate through tasting some of the first pairings we’ve picked for the subscription. The talk will include coffee and chocolates to taste, and a special discount for those who sign up for the subscription.
Cocoa Runners have worked closely with James Hoffmann, the founder of Square Mile Coffee Roasters, in developing ‘The Tasting Wave’. The Tasting Wave is a way of understanding and enjoying the various flavours and sensations as they merge across one another and evolve, and is used widely in both in-person and virtual craft chocolate tastings.
The tasting will run from 11:15-12:00pm on Saturday 12th October, 2024 at the Fidelio Cafe, Farringdon.
About James Hoffmann
James Hoffmann has worked in coffee since 2003 and is passionate about sharing what he’s learned along the way. James won the World Barista Championship in 2007 and in 2008 co-founded Square Mile Coffee Roasters, a multi award-winning coffee company based in East London. These days, he creates videos about anything and everything to do with coffee for his YouTube channel.
His YouTube videos cover how-to recipes, guides, reviews, video essays, and mini-documentaries. James has published two books with Octopus Hachette: his 2014 book ‘The World Atlas of Coffee’ has since been translated into twelve languages and his 2022 book ‘How To Make The Best Coffee At Home’ was a Sunday Times top ten bestseller, and has several foreign editions on the way.
At this event, you’ll hear from his team at Square Mile Coffee Roasters about the pairings which they’ve picked out with Cocoa Runners – and stay tuned to hear more from James soon.

The Cocoa Runners Craft Chocolate Fair
On 12th and 13th October, Cocoa Runners are hosting their annual Craft Chocolate Fair to kick off Chocolate Week 2024. Meet craft chocolate makers from across the UK and beyond at the indoor market, and join a series of talks, tastings and experiences in our beautiful tasting room. The event will take place at the Fidelio Cafe and Concert Venue in Farringdon, London from 11am-6pm. Attendance to the fair is free, with ticketed talks and tastings taking place across both days. Pump Street Chocolate will also be serving drinking chocolate and bringing treats from the famous Pump Street Bakery.
Following the success of the first Craft Chocolate Fair in 2023, and previous sold-out events at Canopy Market, this year’s Fair will see even more bean-to-bar chocolate makers bringing their chocolate to London, including Chocolarder, Duffy’s, Tosier, Beancraft, Land Chocolate, Dormouse and more.
