About Colonna & Small’s

Crafting boutique coffee experiences through exploration and innovation.

Colonna & Smalls first opened its doors in Bath in 2009, laying the foundation for a coffee concept that would go on to earn numerous awards and international recognition. From the beginning, the café was designed as a place to explore coffee through conversation, discovery, and an ever-changing menu.

Rather than offering a single house coffee, Colonna & Smalls pioneered a rotating selection that showcases the diversity of coffee origins and flavour profiles. By shifting the focus away from the format of the drink and towards the provenance of the coffee and the customer’s tasting experience, the company has helped redefine how specialty coffee is presented and enjoyed.

Meet your host

James Gatling

Digital Media & Events Manager

James may be yet another Australian in London, but don’t hold that against him. He brings a unique blend of experience in coffee, music, and marketing in his approach to craft chocolate. His passion for specialty coffee, developed through years as a barista, gives him a keen appreciation for the parallels between craft chocolate and coffee culture. In his spare time, he’s reconnecting with his Irish heritage by playing traditional music on the mandolin and tenor banjo.
