Willie’s Cacao – San Vicente Gold, Colombia, Dark 95%

A bold, intriguing 95% dark bar, packed with savoury and spicy notes. We picked up on flavours of coffee, malt, and marmite, with a hint of salt – almost like a Twiglet.

Pump Street Chocolate – Ecuador Dark 85%

The Ecuadorian cocoa in this bar gives it a powerfully roasted, slightly yeasty flavour with an astringency that remains in the mouth as a pleasant aftertaste. Smooth and with a clean snap, this bar has green notes and is perfect for those who love their chocolate dark and powerful.

Taza Chocolate – Mexicano Wicked Dark 95%

Though still stone-ground and coarse, this wickedly dark 95% bar is far smoother than most Taza bars. Nor is it that intense for such a bar with such a high cocoa percentage. Although  bold and dark the characteristically fruity notes of the cacao shine through in this chocolate.  Indeed, we found this very easy to eat, with a little earthiness and some sweetness.

Zotter – Labooko Bolivia 90%

This 90% chocolate contains less than 10% sugar and as about as intense as they come. With a smooth, but slightly drying texture, this is not a chocolate for everyone, but if you’re looking to experience the extreme dark side of chocolate, we think this bar will fit the bill!
