Lucky dip – Mixed chocolate box

As part of our commitment to reducing our food waste we have established a set of lucky dip boxes; each box contains a small selection of short-life bars or bars which have passed their best-before date, discounted to reward those of you who want to give them a good home!

This box contains 4 top-quality craft chocolate bars (which we’d rather didn’t end up in the bin!); a mixture of milk bars, dark bars, and maybe white bars. So get your hands on a great deal, and try a lucky dip!

There is nothing in dark chocolate bars which “goes off” (i.e. they don’t have a “use-by date”), but legally all chocolate bars have to have a “best-before date”. Milk and white chocolate bars contain milk solids and milk powder, which means they generally have a shorter shelf life than dark chocolate. Like most dark chocolate bars, however, they typically carry a best-before date rather than a use-by date. The milk chocolate in our Lucky Dip box may be close to, or just past, its best-before date. A best-before date is about quality rather than safety, so the chocolate should still be fine to eat, provided it continues to be stored properly and the packaging kept intact.
