TASTING NOTES
This floral milk bar from Minka has a lovely smooth melt and notes of tropical fruit to accompany the light touches of jasmine.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Jorge Martínez is an agricultural engineer with over 25 years of experience working in Ecuador’s cocoa industry. Inspired by the history of the famed Arriba Nacional beans from Ecuador in the 1800s, he set up Minka Chocolate in 2015 (“Minka” is a Quecha word meaning “teamwork”). Their mission is simple: to make Minka a recognised brand of high-quality chocolate worldwide, to celebrate their Ecuadorian origins, and to provide supreme tasting experiences for chocolate lovers around the world.
THE BEANS
The beans in this were sourced from the indigenous Shiwa Urku Community, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon around 30km from the small town of El Tena.

Mine was 4 months out of date when I tried it as got it in the Lucky Dip box so I’m not sure this is an accurate review but anyway it was too sweet for me as 40% sugar per 100g is less than mass market milk chocolate but the flavours weren’t enough to distinguish over the sugar. Probably affected by the bb date but the other bars I received seem to fair better.
