With both the earthy flavours of a good Ecuadorian bar and the buttery smoothness typical of Bonnat, this bar is an absolute classic. The vegetable notes cut through the bar’s richness before giving way to a hit of sweet carrots on the finish.

About the maker

The Bonnat family have been making chocolate in Voiron, France for over 130 years. It was current head Stephane Bonnat’s parents, Raymond and Nicole Bonnat who pioneered Bonnat’s first single origin bars in the 1980’s. Stephane has continued his parent’s tradition and the company now works with 35 different plantations worldwide to produce their bars.

The beans Bonnat used to make this bar are Ecuadorian Nacional beans, sourced from Ecuador. Ecuadorian Nacional beans are a rare variety of cacao beans, with a genetic lineage tracing back as far as 3,500 years to the earliest-known cacao trees domesticated by humanity.
