Ali and Friederike have crafted this smooth and delicate dark chocolate bar from rare Venezuelan beans.
The well-balanced fruity chocolate has notes of pineapple and citrus. A kick of subtle spice swirls through the rich earthiness.
The cacao comes from the Sur del Lago de Maracaibo subregion of Venezuela. This region is located to the south of Lake Maracaibo (technically not a lake but a brackish bay) and is famous for fine flavour cacao.
The Chocolate Tree have specifically sourced these Porcelana beans from a few single estate farms in North Western Sur de Lago. The premium bean has strong Criollo characteristics, which gives the fruit a lighter colour and the chocolate a complex flavour.

The pattern on the bar is amazing and so is the chocolate. Smooth, rich, slightly earthy and just the right amount of sweetness.

Like the packaging in two pieces, keeps one fresh. Lovely dark colour, faint on the nose. Quite heavy on the tongue, as 85% can be. Hints of coconut throughout.
