About the maker

Dormouse is based in Manchester and in 2015 became the city’s first craft chocolate maker, creating its delicious bars directly from the bean. Dormouse is a one-woman chocolate company from chocolate maker Isobel.

The beans

The beans for this bar were grown in the Maya Mountain North Forest Reserve, deep in the jungle of Toledo, Belize, as part of an initiative run by by a group of Q’eqchi’ farmers and a conservation NGO. Their aim is to reforest an area previously invaded by loggers and cattle farmers. Fermented by the experts at Maya Mountain Cacao, Dormouse is very fortunate to be one of only two chocolate makers worldwide to have secured a supply from the 2022 harvest.
