A 71% dark chocolate made in Grenada with local cocoa, with an intense, earthy but fruity flavour.
As Annalisa Barbieri wrote in her Notes on Chocolate column for the Guardian:
“The cocoa used is a trinitario bean from a co-operative that part-owns the Grenada Chocolate Company and the chocolate is made in the Caribbean rainforest. It’s a really unassuming bar, but actually so complex and delicious.”
ABOUT THE MAKER
The Grenada Chocolate Company was a bean-to-bar pioneer, founded by Mott Green back in 1999. Tragically, Mott lost his life in 2013 in an electrical accident while working on one of his beloved eco-projects. But his legacy lives on in his business, which continues to be at the forefront of ethical production. The company remains as Mott founded it, a co-operative of farmers and chocolate makers who are passionate about great chocolate, ethics and the environment. At the busiest times, the factory employ over 50 local workers, all of whom earn the same fair wage. They even deliver their bars around the world by bike and sailing ship.
