ABOUT THE MAKER
When Ben and Becca Snyder stumbled into the world of craft chocolate, it became an instant love. Having spent 20 combined years in the restaurant industry, Ben as a pastry chef and Becca as a cake decorator and baker, creating Lumineux became an opportunity to use their collective skills to create unique flavour combinations in unusual ways. Since 2019, the pair have been opening palates to new flavour profiles, all while using sustainable ingredients associated with the regions their cocoa beans are sourced.
ABOUT THE BEANS
The beans for this bar come from the Ebier Suth (‘Unity to Arise’) cooperative, which was established in 2017 with the help of local stakeholders in Ransiki, Indonesia. An Eden in its own right, researchers have recorded 110 mammal species, 250 butterfly species, and 320 species of bird in this area. Since opening a chocolate boutique in 2020, the cooperative has become an integral part of West Papua’s Green Growth program, which is focused on supporting the sustainable growth of food commodities including cacao, coffee, vanilla, various nuts and seaweed.
