This smooth, 70% dark bar is the definition of award-winning chocolate. While orange may be a nostalgic flavour when it comes to chocolate, the spicy notes of cardamom bring this pairing into the modern day. The sharpness of the orange and the almost ginger-like notes of toasted green cardamom are a match made in heaven when paired with these Ugandan beans. But don’t just take it from us!

ABOUT THE MAKER

When Ben and Becca Snyder stumbled into the world of craft chocolate, it became an instant love. Having spent 20 combined years in the restaurant industry, Ben as a pastry chef and Becca as a cake decorator and baker, creating Lumineux became an opportunity to use their collective skills to create unique flavour combinations in unusual ways. Since 2019, the pair have been opening palates to new flavour profiles, all while using sustainable ingredients associated with the regions their cocoa beans are sourced.

ABOUT THE BEANS

The beans in this bar were sourced from Semuliki Forest Cacao, a grower-centred fermentery that works with over one thousand small-scale organic cocoa farmers. It lies in Bundibugyo, a district of western Uganda that borders the Semuliki National Park. Renowned for its cocoa production, the district also neighbours the Rwenzori Mountains, a diverse ecosystem that is legendary for holding the source of the Nile River.
