Print / PDFZotter – Labooko White
This bar is everything you expect from a good white chocolate – smooth, sweet and creamy with a burst of genuine Bourbon vanilla.
Friis Holm – White 40%
Mikkel Friis Holm only recently (2019) crafted his first ever white chocolate bar. He has sourced the cocoa butter from Ecuador, and gone with a classic 40% butter, 30% (Danish) milk and 30% sugar. The cocoa butter is “natural” (ie not deodorised), so it has has a richly chocolatey aroma. Incredibly smooth, with a buttery texture and creamy flavour. Easy to savour. Too rich to scoff!
Qantu - Sea Buckthorn, White with Dark Chocolate Swirl
All of Qantu’s bars are smooth and silky, and this one with sea buckthorn is no exception. The sea buckthorn contrasts beautifully with the sweet creaminess of the white chocolate and the chocolatey notes of the dark, elevating the bar into a tangy and bright tasting experience – perfect for the fresh spring weather!
Chocolarder - Caramelised Blonde, White 40%
This caramelised white chocolate is one that our entire team reaches for when we want to get our white chocolate fix. It’s Chocolarder’s mature take on a childhood favourite – the caramelisation of the milk gives rise to notes of biscuit, caramel, and sweet shortbread.
We often share this bar at both our in-person and virtual tastings, and we always get incredible feedback – truly Ghana gold from the Asokwa Co-operative.
Moka – Enimiro, Uganda, Vanilla White
This vanilla white bar from Moka is the grown-up, craft chocolate equivalent of the Milkybar! The bar has a nice length and lots of creamy vanilla notes – the vanilla is stone ground with organic whole milk, and added to organic cocoa butter and organic cane sugar.
Willie’s Cacao – El Blanco
The beans for this bar come from a small cocoa estate in Medellin, Colombia. Willie’s import the beans directly, and then press out the cocoa butter in two very early 20th century Dutch presses. They then “conche” (think of the way you knead dough to make bread) at low temperatures for over 3 weeks. And the result is delightfully smooth and aromatic. You can really taste the cocoa butter and milk. And there is no added vanilla
Dormouse - Madagascar Toasted White
This toasted white chocolate from Dormouse has been described as “flawless” by our customers. To create this particular bar, Dormouse has toasted the milk powder to give the chocolate an extra caramelised flavour. The dark blonde bar has a soft, fudgy texture. We noted plenty of sweet caramel, and touches of muscovado and malt.
Jordi's - POP White 40% with Cocoa Nibs
Jordi’s white chocolate bar with cocoa nibs has a special place in the Cocoa Runners’ teams heart – this was the first white chocolate with cocoa nibs we’d ever seen, and we’re rather taken with it! The sweet white chocolate is the perfect counterpoint to the thick layer of crunchy, intense cocoa nibs that cover one side of the bar. Together, they add up to a crunchy, sweet, chocolatey and delicious experience.
Zotter - Yuzu Citrus
After living in Japan for a few years, I had to put this Japanese Yuzu bar from Zotter on the list. The yuzu is combined with a splash of tangerine and lemon juices, and coated in a 50% milk chocolate. Bright, tangy, and refreshing – a brilliant white chocolate bar for spring.
Heinde & Verre – Gold Piura Peru White 37%
This delicious white bar boasts strong caramel notes complemented with a soft melt and a nice length where citrus and nutmeg notes shine through. Cocoa butter from Piura beans are expertly blended with dutch cow’s milk to produce this gold award winning bar.
