About the maker

Aroko Chocolate was founded by Dubraska Gonzalez and Johonny Spagnolo, two Italian-Venezuelans based in Italy. Their mission is to showcase the remarkable diversity of Venezuelan cacao while bringing together two cultures: Venezuela’s rich cacao heritage and Italy’s tradition of craftsmanship.

The beans

The beans for this bar are sourced from a small village named Chuao, situated on the northern coast of Venezuela, on the Empresa Campesina Chuao in Aragua. Due to low humidity in this area, water for the cultivation of cacao is irrigated from local rivers – it is believed that the natural mineral water which provides nutrients to the cacao trees is what gives its beans their unique flavour profile.
