TASTING NOTES
A wonderfully fruity bar, this rich dark chocolate has none of the bitterness you might expect from a 70% dark bar. Look out for notes of maple syrup, cherry, and raspberry.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Bare Bones Chocolate was founded in Glasgow in 2018 by Lara and Cameron, two craft chocolate lovers who decided to try their hand making their own. The results speak for themselves! Multiple successes at the International Chocolate Awards and Great Taste Awards have followed, and their beautiful packaging, made from recycled paper coffee cups and repurposed food waste, highlights their commitment to great taste while protecting the planet and its people.
THE BEANS
The beans in this bar are sourced from the Mivoatra Cooperative, a group of seven farmers in the Sambirano Valley in the Madagascan northwest. The co-op, run by a lady called Hedwige, centrally ferments the farmers’ certified-organic beans and is part of UCLS, a union of small Madagascan cooperatives that aims to get more money into the hands of cocoa farmers. It exports directly to foreign makers, has launched a bean quality program and a farmer education initiative, and empowers its farmers to Sambirano’s unique rainforest ecosystem.

Classic Sambirano fruit, but a disappointingly waxy mouth feel
Claire H. –
Definitely complex flavours! I think I like it, but I’m still undecided

Willy Wonka chocolate
This is like a variety box in a bar
Sometimes coffee or caramel on the outside, sometimes honeycomb or toffee in the next layer and always fruit on the inside sometimes raspberry or orange or lime
I swear that you expect to bite thro the piece and see a pink, orange or green centre
Lovely
