This is a herbal, minty dark bar from Beaningful. We detect tropical notes of kiwi, pineapple, and stone fruit that eventually moves towards a chocolateyness reminiscent of a brownie. There is some lovely depth, and a slight note note of nuttiness on the finish.

About the maker

Beaningful is a chocolate maker based in the quiet highlands of Lithuania, founded by chef-turned-chocolate maker Justinas. They officially launched in 2022 after a two-year build during the pandemic. Every stage of production, from sourcing single-origin cacao and roasting the beans to refining, tempering, moulding, and hand-wrapping each bar, is carried in-house, with Justinas leading all aspects of production and day-t0-day operations. His wife, Marija, manages brand communications and supports manufacturing, while longtime collaborator Ieva, a professional chocolate taster and chef, contributes to product development and tasting experiences. Together, they operate with a commitment to craftsmanship, transparency, and sustainability.

The beans

The Qori Warmi cooperative, made up entirely of women, is located in the VRAEM region, in southern Peru. In addition to lush nature, local gangs also thrive in this area, causing inconvenience to residents. The cooperative’s activities are extremely important, ensuring fair and legal remuneration for work. The cocoa collected here is called Qori Inti and means golden sun.
