Description
Wrapped in Nordic mittens, Chocokoo is Estonia’s first bean to bar chocolate maker.
After Kristel Lankots wanted to radically change her life’s direction to do something she really loved and something that she could call her own, it meant moving away from her financial responsibility in the construction industry and into the world of chocolate-making. Equipped with a degree in economics and business management, Kristel founded Chocokoo with the aspiration to create something tangible from her hard work.
For this particular chocolate, the Maleku cacao grows in Upala in the Northern region of Costa Rica, on small plots of land owned by individual farmers. Costa Rica, a paradise land rich in coffee and fruit, has its cacao in the midst of emerging as a valuable crop. However, it had been for many years that any growing of cacao had been abandoned, namely in favour of growing bananas. But now cacao in Costa Rica has made a greatly admired comeback, with the farmers able to make a good living.
Kristel appreciates the love the Costa Rican farmers put into their work, so much so that Costa Rica has become her house chocolate. Expect flavours of honeyed apricots and citrus tanginess, with a very smooth and buttery texture.
