Sweet and vegetal, with hints of wine. There are green spices from the start with a hint of pear drops. Conexion chocolate typically has a slower melt in its chocolate but we strongly recommend letting this chocolate rest on the palate and release of full flavours.

About the maker

Conexión Chocolate produce chocolate made exclusively from Ecuador’s emblematic fine of flavour “Arriba Nacional” Cacao Beans price worldwide. Their chocolate is discovered and manufactured in Ecuador, working with individual regions and crops to closely select the best cacao beans to capture the purity, aroma, and taste of each area.

The beans

Ecuadorean cocoa faces the major challenge of young farmers abandoning their family cocoa farms for an uncertain city life.  To counteract this, Conexion has partnered with a generation of cocao growers, ages 18 to 35, from UOPROCAE Association in Esmeraldas to guarantee higher prices, a share of the profits (50% of the profits of this bar go back to the farmers), and a multiyear, long term contract.

Conexion’s goal is to inspire this younger generation of farmers with the chance to build personal skills, long term business and avoid the uncertain immigration to cities.  In addition Conexion aim to give the young farmers a better quality of life and to nurture long-term, sustainable farming of fine cacao for future generations.

After the success of this bar and initiative, Jenny and her team are now planning other cacao co-ops with young farmers.
