About the maker
Dutch business partners, Heinde & Verre are the Netherlands’ latest excellent craft chocolate makers, developing incredible bars with unique recipes. Established in 2019, they have been growing rapidly expanding their bar catalogue, inventing new recipes and sourcing more wonderful cacao.
The beans
Hacienda Victoria is a 500-hectare cocoa plantation about half an hour from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Established in 2012 by Carlos Eduardo García Fuentes and named after his wife, Victoria, the estate is leading the way in sustainable, socially responsible cocoa agriculture. For this bar, Dutch makers Heinde & Verre have selected the highest ASSPS quality cacao grade of Ecuador – meaning that the beans for this bar are processed separately by the farmers at the plantation to make a special, unblemished selection of perfect fermented beans.

I was introduced to 100% chocolate at Christmas and have since bought several bars. This is my favourite. I eat in small nibbles which is the only way with such dense chocolate! Its dry in the mouth at first but then a sharp tangyness comes in as it develops into a delightful chocolate flavour.
