Description
TASTING NOTES
An intense 100%, this chocolate presents rich notes of sweet raisins and molasses with a subtle bourbon-like finish. This bar has a smooth, rather silky texture which perfectly complements its rich, bold overtones.
ABOUT THE MAKER
After a decade in the corporate world, founders Zulema and Giuseppe went in search of a more fulfilling career. They learned about the growing popularity of Peruvian cacao as an ingredient, and decided to explore ways in which they might be able to use their native cacao to craft chocolate in Peru. Through their distinctive packaging, they have sought to represent the cultural identity and heritage of their nation. The packaging for Marana’s Cusco collection is inspired by the painted boards of Sarhua, which was a form of folk art used by families in the Peruvian Andes to pass down tales of their ancestors.
THE BEANS
The beans in this bar come from the Cusco Valley in the Peruvian Andes, a stone’s throw from the ancient mountain-top city of Machu Picchu. Cusco Valley is home to the Chuncho bean, one of Peru’s rarest varieties of cocoa, which gives this bar such a unique flavour profile.

Not bad, but not particularly special either. Overall I found it to be underperforming and bland.
