This mini dark chocolate waffle snack bar from Raaka was inspired by the true chocolate lover’s summer order – a chocolate ice cream in a chocolate cone. The dark chocolate is infused with vanilla, and topped with a chocolate waffle cone.
About the maker
Raaka is a Brooklyn-based craft chocolate maker that focuses on social responsibility as much as great taste. Founder Ryan Cheney discovered chocolate while on holiday in Thailand, and quickly grew excited about the possible flavours of unroasted cocoa beans. Ryan and co-founder Nate started experimenting with chocolate in Nate’s poorly ventilated apartment – the same place he was experimenting with long vinegar reduction for making sauces. Raaka is now dedicated to making “uncommonly delicious chocolate” crafted from unroasted cacao beans, capturing the brighter, bolder, and fruitier notes of cacao. Raaka is also committed to transparent trade, publishing farmgate prices for all the cocoa that goes into each bar.

Bought this as I’m gluten free and liked the idea of some crunch in my chocolate! The bar is very dark, and it does have crunch, but I’m not a huge fan. I expected the waffle cone to add some sweetness but couldn’t really taste much sweetness at all, if you like very dark unsweet chocolate you might love it though, just wasn’t for me!
