This dark 70% bar from BOHO has a rich and distinctive flavour profile which highlights the unique tasting notes found in Bolivian cacao. We think that this bar starts off chocolatey, moving into a complex blend of fruity and floral notes. This bar also won Gold at the 2024 Academy of Chocolate Awards!

About the maker

Charlie Burke, the founder of BOHO, started his chocolate journey in the 1980s, when he opened a small chain of chocolate and confectionery shops in New England, USA. Having always wanted to craft their own chocolate, Charlie and his partner, Suzanne, set out in 2014 to learn how to make the very best bean-to-bar chocolate. They founded BOHO after a trip to South America with Taza Chocolate to visit farmers, cooperatives, and local chocolate makers. The name BOHO is short for Bohemian, which signifies their “organic, artistic, and independent approach to making quality chocolate.”

The beans

The beans for this bar come from the rainforests in the Beni province, Bolivia. Cocoa trees have long grown wild in the rainforests of the Beni province. The trees grow on small islets, which become islands in the rainy season and can only be reached by boat!
