The dark chocolate bar is expertly crafted from Cacao Cusco beans, an ancient site for cacao production located close to the Inca Valley. This is a sweet dark bar, with rich chocolatey notes.

About the maker

The Bonnat family has been making chocolate in Voiron, France, for over 130 years. It was current head Stephane’s parents, Raymond and Nicole Bonnat, who pioneered Bonnat’s first single-origin bars in the 1980s. Stephane has continued his parents’ proud tradition, now working with 35 different plantations worldwide to produce Bonnat’s world-famous chocolate.

The beans

The beans in this bar come from the Cusco Valley in the Peruvian Andes, a stone’s throw from the ancient mountain-top city of Machu Picchu. Cusco Valley is home to the Chuncho bean, one of Peru’s rarest varieties of cocoa, which gives this bar such a unique flavour profile. The Machiguenga, an indigenous people who live in the Amazon Basin jungle regions of southeastern Peru, still use the beans today as currency for commercial exchange.
