About the maker

Fruition Chocolate, a bean to bar and confectionery company, based in the Catskill Mountains of New York, was founded in 2011 by Bryan Graham. Fruition was one of the first American bean to bar makers to go against the grain, experimenting beyond the new-wave purity of just two ingredients, that is, solely cacao and sugar. Instead, Fruition introduced unique flavours, methods (like Bourbon-barrel ageing!) and also sought to introduce some of the finest and rarest cacao beans to milk chocolate – its Dark Milk Maranon Canyon bar won the ‘Best in Competition’ milk chocolate at the International Chocolate Awards 2016. Other interesting flavour concepts of Fruition is its Hudson Valley Bourbon Dark Milk and Brown Butter Milk chocolate bars.

The beans

The beans in this bar were sourced from Semuliki Forest Cacao, a grower-centred fermentery that works with over one thousand small-scale organic cocoa farmers. It lies in Bundibugyo, a district of western Uganda that borders the Semuliki National Park. Renowned for its cocoa production, the district also neighbours the Rwenzori Mountains, a diverse ecosystem that is legendary for holding the source of the Nile River.
