This 45% milk chocolate from Hacienda Betulia in Colombia balances rich cocoa with creamy notes of hazelnut, walnut, almond, and subtle hints of coffee and liquorice. Made from a unique blend of Criollo and Trinitario beans grown in Antioquia, it offers a smooth and nutty profile with depth and elegance.

About the maker

In the heart of Porto, you’ll find the incredible craft chocolate makers, Vinte Vinte – with an aim of producing some of the finest quality chocolate. Their name sake is based on where they source their beans – all their cacao comes from farms within 20 degrees north or south of the equator – the ideal growing conditions for cacao.

The beans

The cacao for this bar is from Colombia’s north-western province of Antioquia. Colombian cocoa was successfully grown and exported from colonial times until the 1920s and was famous for producing Criollo varieties. The export market was reborn in 1980, but at that time the Criollos were replaced by a mix of Trinitario hybrids. Hacienda Betulia, founded seven years ago, selected its own local Criollo trees (Betulia) to propagate these genetics of rare and complex flavours.
