    Rare Nacional beans from the Maranon River valley in Peru have been crafted into a sweet and delicate dark chocolate bar.

    The chocolate has a light aroma of black tea, that reminded us of Darjeeling and Earl Grey but with a smoked undertone. A hint of vanilla sweetness reveals a refreshing fruit finish of green apples and grapefruit.

    The Maranon Fortunato No.4 bean has become increasingly popular with makers. Recently rediscovered by the Pearson family, Maranon beans have particularly strong Pure Nacional genetics.

    Beans are grown and harvested on small family farms in the Maranon canyon before being transported to Maranon Chocolate who sort, ferment and dry the beans ready to be shipped to makers around the world.
