This 70% bar is the first bar from our first Brazilian maker, Luisa Abram. Luisa and her family use wild cacao sourced from small cooperatives in the upper basin of the Amazon. To the beans they add nothing but a little organic sugar, giving the true flavour of Amazonian cacao.
The bar has a thick, slightly fudgy texture that blends well with the dark sweet notes of black treacle. Mixed in with the intense, almost burnt fudge is a floral spice – we detected hints of cardamom with just a shadow of liquorice on the finish. A complex, interesting and indulgent bar, using cacao that is not widely available – this bar is absolutely worth a try.

Quite sweet with a hint of crystallised honey - reminded me of a refined Crunchie! Short after taste but with a slight bitterness if you search for it

Best chocolate bar I ever tried.

I’m so impressed with this chocolate. A small family business, so new to the chocolate world, should not be producing chocolate this good, surely. The aroma doesn’t give much away, but after a few seconds the flavour bursts with berries and leather. There’s a dreaminess that comes with the best chocolate. It’s like a walk in the rainforest shadows. You can almost taste the air. This is the flavour of the Amazon, all in one small dark square. I love the company ethos - wild cacao and no milk chocolate. Who needs milk when you’re already making something this good? I like the packaging too. Almost a presentation box. The inner sleeve slides open like a drawer with the chocolate gold foil wrapped within. Outstanding.
