This award-winning 70% bar from Manoa features tasting notes of creamy caramel, moving towards a fragrant hibiscus. The bar ends with a rich finish of hazelnut.

About the maker

Manoa was founded by Dylan Butterbaugh and Daniel O’Doherty. The pair use a variety of different locally sourced ingredients in their bars, which they craft in Kailua on Oahu island. All of Manoa’s bars are sourced from local farmers in Hamakua, Waiahole, Maunawili and Haiku. Hawaii is the only American state where cacao is grown.

The beans

The beans for this bar have been sourced from Kona in Hawaii. The Lika’o Kula Farm is one of the oldest sources of Hawaiian cacao, and their beans won the top 15 best flavoured cacao worldwide at the 2017 Salon du Chocolat.
