This box contains:
Luisa Abram – Rio Tocantins, Brazil Dark 70% with Cupuaçu
This bar is a rich 70% dark chocolate, produced with beans from the Tocantins River in Brazil. This unique fusion sees cacao paired with it’s close relative, Theobroma Grandiflorum, better know as Cupuaçu. The chocolate offers natural notes of citrus fruits, which complements the tropical flavours of the crystallised Cupuaçu.
Original Beans – Cru Virunga
This rich and sweet dark bar is deeply chocolatey, with the unique flavour of morello cherries and hints of black tea combining to produce a special earthiness. The depth of flavour comes from the rare Amelonado cacao that grows in the Virunga National Park, home to some of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas.
Original Beans – Cru Udzungwa 70%
The cacao for this bar is grown in special village gardens on the edge of Udzungwa Mountain National Park, an important haven for Tanzania’s endangered elephants. This playful bar reverberates with floral bursts and whispers of tropical fruits, orange, and toffee. The inclusion of nibs adds an earthy dimension, finely ground so as to give a pleasingly subtle crunch and slightly different texture from the normally smooth Swiss chocolate of Original Beans.
Chocolate Makers – Gorilla Bar, Milk
The milk bar in Chocolate Makers’s famous Gorilla range is supremely creamy, with a roasted profile and some sour hints of citrus. This bar is made with beans from the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the last remaining home of the mountain gorillas. Planting cocoa on the edge of the park provides locals with a sustainable source of income that does not negatively impact the gorilla’s habitat. The result is a win for local humans and gorillas, and for chocolate lovers worldwide!
