This is a creamy, nutty 75% dark bar from Naive. It begins with a smooth butteriness that lengthens into a long delicate finish and a hint of fruit.

About the maker

Chocolate Naive was founded by Domantas Užpalis in 2011 with the belief that only the best ingredients in the world are capable of making great chocolate. Naive has close relationships with all of its suppliers, visiting each of them at least once a year. They must be committed to sustainable growing practices and strong environmental management, for which they are rewarded by payment at least 40% above the market price.

The beans

The beans for this bar come from the Hacienda Torres in Choroni, on Venezuela’s northern Caribbean coast. Also known as Finca Torres, this cacao farm is 400 hectares, though only roughly a fifth of the land has cacao trees due to the estate’s mountainous terrain.
