TASTING NOTES
The milk bar in Chocolate Makers’s famous Gorilla range is supremely creamy, with a roasted profile and some sour hints of citrus.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Dutch founders Rodney and Enver began to create bean-to-bar chocolate in Amsterdam in 2011. They are as passionate about ethics and sustainability as they are about the chocolate itself; they use only Organic ingredients, pay 50% above the Fairtrade price, and aim to become carbon neutral in their chocolate production. One aspect of this comes from their factory in Amsterdam’s harbour, which has such a large solar panel-covered roof that they generate more power than they consume.
THE BEANS
This bar is made with beans from the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the last remaining home of the mountain gorillas . Planting cocoa on the edge of the park provides locals with a sustainable source of income that does not negatively impact the gorilla’s habitat. The result is a win for local humans and gorillas, and for chocolate lovers worldwide!

My absolute favourite milk bar on here as it’s not that sweet and has a really slow thick velvety melt. Sooo freakin good!

This is how I got my Cadbury-loving husband to consider craft chocolate. Creamy enough for him, and a satisfying cocoa hit for me. Beautiful chocolate.

Very rich and intense for a milk chocolate- could be the thing to tempt milkies over to the dark side

We’ve been rating our bars on our regular deliveries for the past 6 months now. This bar scored a 9.5/10, and is the second highest bar we’ve rated so far. Really very good indeed.
