Tibito – Putumayo Dark
Unfortunately this bar is no longer available in our Library. Please see below for four bars that we think you will enjoy.
A Colombian dark chocolate bar crafted by Tibito in Bogota using beans sourced from the Putumayo region.
Compare this chocolate in colour to Tibito’s other bars and you immediately see the bar has a much darker tone. The chocolate opens with bright notes of sweet buttered green peas which melt into coconut cream. We detected a little powder as the bar dissolves in the mouth. The rich cream gives way to toasted hazelnuts and ever so slightly drying finish.
Tibito has sourced the cocoa beans for this bar from Putumayo in Colombia, on the border of Ecuador and Peru. The name comes from the Quechuan languages and can literally be translated as ‘gushing river’. And in fact Putomayo is also the name of the Amazon Tribuatry that flows through the region fed by network of smaller rivers all of are key to the area’s lush and fertile rainforests.
Tibito sees itself as a celebration of the flavours and aromas of Colombian cacao. It sources its cocoa beans from different plantations in different regions of Colombia. The beans are then taken to its factory Bogota. Here the cocoa from each region is transformed by hand into a chocolate that reveals and rejoices in the beans’ terroir.
