About Carambole

Carambole is a chocolatier focused on the avant-garde, experimental nature of chocolate. Rita, the founder of Carambole, puts design, creativity, and sustainability at the forefront, making beautifully elaborate bonbon designs.

Once Rita has chosen a couverture for her collection, she adds various spirits, spices, fruits, and nuts to create the perfect texture for her bonbons. She experiments with different moulds, hand painting designs, and layering several flavours to create delicious and artistic bonbons.

Rita won multiple Gold awards from the Academy of Chocolate between 2020-2023, including the Golden Bonbon.

How they became makers…

Rita, the founder of Carambole, originally started as an artist in theatre. After being in the fine arts for almost twenty years, she decided to start exploring the intersection between chocolate making and painting. As a result, she became a chocolatier, experimenting with flavour, texture, and design. Carambole opened in Amsterdam in 2017 as an atelier hosting chocolate tastings, workshops, and performances. In 2021, she transferred her atelier to Amersfoort, where she hosts masterclasses. Rita’s focus lies in exploring the artistic potential of craft chocolate, hoping to inspire others about the flexible, imaginative nature of chocolate.

Carambole’s Sourcing

Carambole sources their chocolate exclusively from seasonally limited, small batches from leading bean-to-bar makers around the world, such as Original Beans, Krak, and Chocolate Tree.
