Meet the maker
Erithaj Chocolat
About Erithaj
Erithaj is a chocolate maker that pays a particular focus on familial and cultural heritage. Standing as a forefront player in the promotion of sustainable development and ethical responsibility is one of Erithaj’s fundamental aims.
How they became makers…
Inspired by his father’s passion and extensive network in the cacao and chocolate industry, Arnaud Stengel founded his own chocolate company in 2013 – Erithaj Chocolat – crafting chocolate from cacao beans grown by smallholder farmers in Vietnam, which are managed through his family-launched project – VietCacao.
Vietcacao aims to support young people with disabilities by getting involved in the growing popularity of cacao in Vietnam. Vietcacao has already helped to build help-center workshops in the province of Ben Tre, aimed at helping the locals improve their employability.
Erithaj’s Sourcing
Sourcing its cacao from Arnaud’s family farms in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, Erithaj then delivers its cacao beans to France, with Arnaud overlooking the chocolate-making process in collaborative partnership with Chocolaterie A. Morin. Arnaud’s involvement in all the stages from bean-to-bar is that he believes it’s important to treat chocolate as a living matter with a unique spirit that is true to its origin and structure.
