About Milz Chocolat
Founded in 2020, Milz Chocolat was established in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by mother-and-daughter duo Yifat Milz Strauss
and Yvonne Strauss. After purchasing a cacao farm in the Dominican Republic in 2015, Yifat and Yvonne decided to create their own brand of chocolates. Their mission? To make high quality chocolate products with delicious flavours, using only the cacao they cultivate at their cacao farm. Today, Milz Chocolat has a team of 8 employees, who work in their small factory transform their cocoa beans with great care into a range of outstanding chocolate products.
How they became makers…
Based on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, the Milz Strauss family has a long history in livestock farming. The family became interested in cacao cultivation a few years ago, and purchased their very own cacao farm in 2015. At that time, the farm was filled with young trees (1-3 years old), and began to produce cacao little by little. The family became passionate about chocolate, and decided to combine this passion with their passion for farming.
Milz Chocolat’s Sourcing
All of Milz Chocolat’s bars use the cocoa beans that have been grown on their cacao farm, Cacaotal del Norte, on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. The team cultivate, ferment, dry, and process the cacao into their delicious chocolate themselves; the definition of bean-to-bar.
