Naive
About Naive
In a quiet town in eastern Lithuania, Chocolate Naive crafts small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate that celebrates simplicity, purity, and exceptional taste. Despite what the name might suggest, Naive’s chocolate is anything but inexperienced.
Instead, the name reflects a philosophy: using only the best natural ingredients and traditional techniques to create chocolate that is sincere, unpretentious, and remarkably complex. Every bar captures the essence of the cacao’s origin, crafted with precision, patience, and a deep respect for the slow rhythms of chocolate making.
How Naive became makers…
Domantas Užpalis, the founder of Chocolate Naive, didn’t begin his career in chocolate. After completing a master’s degree in Urban Development in London, he returned to Lithuania ready to launch into the corporate world only to find the 2008 global financial crisis waiting for him. Seeking a new direction, Domantas turned to chocolate.
He purchased a tonne of cacao beans, moved to the countryside, secured a business loan, and taught himself the craft from scratch. What began as an escape from corporate rigidity has grown into one of the world’s most respected micro-batch chocolate makers, where each bar is a reflection of both passion and precision.

How Naive source their beans
At Chocolate Naive, sourcing is as much an art as chocolate making itself. Guided by Slow Food principles, Naive seeks out the finest natural ingredients, working with trusted local producers and exceptional cacao farmers across the globe. They are deeply committed to traceability, transparency, and quality at every stage. While Naive remains proudly small, their ambitions are big: they aim to produce no more than 20 tonnes of chocolate annually and plan to one day acquire their own cacao farm to create a fully vertically integrated supply chain, ensuring even greater control over flavour, ethics, and craftsmanship.
